14th All India Council Committee meeting, Chennai


The 14th All India Council Committee meeting of Central Staff Association of DGE&T was held at Chennai from 15th - 17th Feb. 2012. The main agenda of the meeting was to oppose the Government’s move to privatize Government Industrial Training institutes by giving autonomous status to National Council for Vocational Training.

The inaugural function of the meeting was held on 15th February 2012 and Shri. S.S. Ramasubbu, M.P. Shri. S.K. Kharvendan, Member, National Commission for Backward Classes, Govt. of India, Dr. R. Rajmohan, National Shipping Board, Shri. Ameer Khan, Shri. A.S. Khan, Shri. M. Duraupandian General Secretary, Confederation of Central Government Employees& Workers, had honoured with their participation in the function.

CSAD association’s Chairman B Ajith, President Shri Smarajit Khan, General Secretary,Shri Samar Ghosa, were also present on the dais. CASD Chennai unit President Mr. N V R Krishnan presided over the function. Shri G Rajan, Secretary of Chennai unit gave a cordial welcome to the guests and gathering present on the occasion.

Shri. S.S. Ramasubbu, M.P outlined the importance of the Vocational training for the development of the nation and praised Central Training Institute, Chennai for its production of well skilled labour for our country’s development. He said that the government’s move to give autonomous status for National Council for Vocational Training without any valid reason will harm the vocational training to poor citizens of India. He assured his possible help for the efforts taken by the CSAD to stall NCVT bill 2012.

Shri. Kharventhan said that by making any successful organization as autonomous is only meant to gain profit and inviting foreigners in our country to take advantage to earn money. He gave his assurance to support the cause of the movement for stopping the NCVT Bill 2012 to give it autonomous status.

Shri M. Duraipandian said that making an organization as autonomous is nothing but a part of privatization by policy of the government with intention to withdraw the government’s social obligation. He also raised issues about the Pension Regulatory Bill and anti employees policy of the government.
Fifty three delegates from different cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Dehradun, Bhubaneswar attended the business session held on 16th and 17th of Feb. 2012.
